I set up a new PhotoStructure server and started importing a folder of photos. It’s nearly done. If I also import a Google Takeout from Google Photos which contains some of the same photos, will it add the Google metadata (location and face tagging) to the existing photos in the library?
The metadata found in the Google Takeout JSON sidecars (and the album.json) from all “asset file” variations will be added to the “asset” – so yes, if PhotoStructure deduplicates your original photos and videos properly with your Google Takeout, the takeout metadata should show up.
If you find that deduplication isn’t working properly, please send me a zipfile of the original and the google takeout variant, and I can take a look at what’s going on.
