Trying to get set up per this page, but Virus Total flagged the linked Cygwin install file as malicious. Only one security vendor flagged it, so I’m hoping it’s just a false positive, but on the How to scan software with Virus Total page it recommends reporting any software linked to on this site if it gets flagged, so here I am!
P.S. Thank you for recommending for everyone to scan software for malware – I didn’t realize it was so easy, and have bookmarked Virus Total for future use!

Unfortunately these one-off “detections” are uncomfortably commonplace. It’s a judgement call that you have to make to determine if it’s a “false positive.”
If you downloaded from Cygwin Installation then you should be fine, but you can also verify that the SHAs match:
(VirusTotal will tell you the hash values in their UI: and remember that with SHA validation, all the characters in the hash need to match!)
The new instructions for windows uses MSYS2 which is not marked as suspect by virustotal.
