Photo syncing doesn't work on windows desktop version

Expected Behavior

Photos sync

Current Behavior

Photostructure skips the folders i set to sync and scans the library.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Set up a new folder to sync from
  2. Restart sync

Environment

Operating system and version: Windows 10

PhotoStructure edition: Photostructure for Desktop

Additional: I tested this with photostructure for node and it works fine.

Crap, sorry that PhotoStructure’s misbehaving for you.

What version are you testing? v0.9.1, or an alpha build?

Did you pick the current scanned directories in your first visit of the settings page, or did you change it afterwards?

What happens if you quit the Desktop app and restart it? Does it pick up your scanned paths then?

The latest alpha build.
Afterwards.
Doesn’t fix it.

Thanks for the heads-up. I’ll try to reproduce this tomorrow.

Thanks to @Saxo_Broko for reporting this issue. Apologies for the delayed follow-up.

Sync and scan-path handling have been substantially reworked across several releases:

  • v2024.3: Rewrote scan path configuration and duplicate detection; added sync reports so you can see exactly which directories were imported, skipped, or deferred.
  • v2026.1: Sync pipeline rearchitected — up to 6× faster on 8+ core CPUs, and the Filters settings now trigger automatic re-evaluation of already-imported files.
  • v2026.2: New Sync Activity page shows imports, directory status, and problem files in real time; a progress watchdog auto-restarts a wedged sync.

See also Scan paths and Sync vs rebuild. Current Windows builds are on the install page.

Release notes: PhotoStructure v2026.4 | PhotoStructure

Please upgrade to v2026.4 or later and open a new topic if sync still ignores your configured scan paths.
